If you want to party, this is the town for you. Think an entire street of bars, people drinking on the streets and live music. It was SO much fun. Although we didn’t spend much time in the nightlife it was fun to walk around and see everything that was going on! Tonnes of drag shows, live music and people watching.
If you aren’t into partying this place is ALSO for you, with lots of shopping, ocean activities and a few beautiful beaches.
If you plan on visiting, I highly suggest you rent a bike and explore the key for the day; we did this and it was SO much fun. Where is the best place to rent a bike? Well we did some research and found blue sky rentals was the cheapest.
Restaurants to go to:
Fogertys - Try the mudslide and the chicken cheesesteak and thank me later. All jokes aside, all the food we tried here was yummy!
Lucy’s - They have such fun drinks for adults and kids! Make sure to get a Shirley temple for the kiddos if you go here, it comes with little mermaids and a shark! Their food is also great!
Pinchers - We sat on the upstairs patio and it was really nice up there! If you go here, try the hot crab dip.. 10/10
Hurricane hole Marina - They had really yummy food; plus if you sit and watching you will see pelicans, jumping fish, jelly fish and if you are lucky the manatees!
Cuban Coffee House (on Truman) - They are SO friendly; have yummy breakfast and some really good coffee! I got the iced mocha; wow it was yummy!
Beaches to visit:
Fort Zachary - You have to pay as this is a state park (around $10); it is the only natural beach in key west so it is a bit rocky getting in and out since it is all broken coral (bring water shoes or sandals) but none the less it is beautiful and there is a little restaurant for all our needs! You can also rent beach chairs and umbrellas there.
Smathers Beach - This beach is beautiful, not too busy and easy to get to by bike or even walk! They offer parasailing and stand up paddle board rentals at this beach too!
Higgs beach - Smaller but still really nice!
We also did a snorkeling tour that was well run and lots of fun!
