Besides nourishing food and clean water, sleep is my TOP priority. Making sure that not only am I getting enough but making sure that it is top quality is my goal. There are a few products and things I do to ensure that I am sleeping well.
Cool/dark environment: We turn our house down to 69F at night, have blackout blinds and ensure we are not overdressed.
Magnesium: I use this in two different ways, one being spray on my feet and two I take a magnesium powder of pill each night. For my sleepy girl mocktail I use THIS MAGNESIUM POWDER, for spray I use THIS MAGNESIUM SPRAY and for pills I use THIS MAGNESIUM PILL.
Electronics out of the room: I choose to do this because of distraction, blue light and it helps me get up in the morning when my alarm is going off in the next room. There is tonnes of research all about how blue light before bed can have an impact on your sleep. If you are in bed scrolling on a bright light and expect to fall into a deep sleep right away, it won't happen. Putting your phone in another room allows you to unwind before bed.
No big meals 2 hours before bed: This is not to say that if I am hungry I will not eat before bed, but I try to eat at least 2 hours before I go to sleep in order for proper digestion and to allow my heart rate to lower. If you eat right before bed, it takes your resting heart rate longer to decrease which impacts your ability to fall into a deep sleep.
